ℹ️NOTE: Access to emission factor driver trees is restricted to users with the role of “Environmental Expert”.
ℹ️NOTE: Driver trees are not available for all emission factors. Their availability depends on the specific data source.
Accessing the Driver Tree View
Navigate to the Emission factors section in your Terrascope platform
Locate and select the emission factor you want to analyze from the list
CLicking three dots at the right of an emission factor, in the emission factor details pane, click the "Analyze drivers" button at the bottom right.
The platform will redirect you to the driver tree visualization, displaying the emission factor and its component sub-factors as an interactive organizational chart.
Understanding the Driver Tree Structure
The driver tree presents emission factors as a hierarchical structure where:
Parent Emission Factor: The main emission factor appears as the root node at the top of the tree.
Sub-components: Child nodes represent the contributing components that make up the parent emission factor.
Node Indicators: Nodes with ‘a dot symbol contain additional sub-components that can be further expanded.
Visual Connections: Lines connect parent nodes to their child components, showing the relationship hierarchy.
Supported functionality
Minimum contribution threshold controls: The minimum contribution threshold allows you to filter which components are displayed based on their percentage contribution to the parent emission factor.
Click the minus (-) or (+) button to reduce or increase the percentage by 5% It allows manual entry, click directly on the percentage number field to enter a specific value.Typical reduction of 5% can significantly narrow down the displayed components.
Display properties - Percentage: This visualization option shows the numerical percentage contribution of each sub-component relative to its parent node.
Display properties - Percentage Bar:This visualization option shows visual representation of component contributions through proportional bars.
Display properties - FLAG Label: It helps you to identify nodes that contain Forest, Land, and Agriculture (FLAG) emissions.
Zoom In: Click the plus (+) icon to magnify the current view for detailed examination.
Zoom Out: Click the minus (-) icon to reduce magnification and see more of the tree structure.
Fit View: Click the fit view icon to automatically center and scale the entire tree within the viewport.
Lock settings: Click on the lock icon to prevent drilldown or expansion of a node when clicked.
Emission Factors (EFs) often include many subcomponents, which may not all be visible on the screen at once. The box in the bottom right corner shows which part of the EF node map you are currently viewing, helping you understand both your location within the map and the overall scale of the EF.
Viewing Individual Node Details
Each node in the driver tree contains detailed information about its specific emission factor component.
Accessing node details:
Locate the node you want to examine in the driver tree.
Click the three dots (⋯) icon that appears on the node.
Select "View details" from the dropdown menu.
An EF detail pane will open, displaying comprehensive information about the selected component.
Detail information of a node emission factor:
Net emission contribution: Numerical value of the node
Emission factor details: Source, version, and database information
FLAG Breakdown: Land use change and land management emission components
Description: Detailed explanation of the emission factor scope and methodology
