Review Workflow Overview

As a Carbon Manager or a Project Manager, you are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all submitted emissions data before it becomes part of your organisation's official carbon footprint calculations.

Updated this week

Review Responsibilities

Data Accuracy Verification:

  • ✅Activity descriptions are clear and accurate

  • ✅Volumes and units are correct and reasonable

  • ✅Applied emission factors are appropriate

  • ✅Calculations are mathematically sound

Quality Assurance:

  • ✅Data sources are credible and documented

  • ✅Methodologies are consistent across similar activities

  • ✅Business unit assignments are correct

  • ✅Temporal boundaries align with measurement year

Review Process

  1. Navigate to “Measurement”, choose the desired “Measurement” project, then go to “Activities”.

  2. Review each line item to verify the accuracy of details, such as activity descriptions, volumes, units, and emission factors. Remove the "Duplicate" tag if needed.

  3. Select a task or multiple tasks to enable bulk actions.

  4. A toolbar will appear; hover over the desired item to assign.

  5. Click the “Mark as” then select “Verified.”

  6. If you want to revisit certain activities later, you can mark them as “Pending review”.

  7. The status of each activity can be identified by the icon displayed in the Status column of the Activities list. This allows users to quickly see the current state of each activity at a glance, helping to manage and track progress efficiently.

If any revision or update is required

Carbon Managers’ actions

  1. Repeat steps 1 to 4 in the Review Process to locate the relevant activities.

  2. Click “Mark as” and select “Request updates.”

  3. In the pop-up window, provide your review comments and specify what needs to be updated for the Data Custodians.

  4. Click “Submit.”

Data Custodians’ actions

  1. Data Custodians will receive an email notification about the data update requirement.

  2. Click the “View activities in task” link in the email to be directed to the relevant Activity on the platform.

  3. Filter for activities with the status “Request updates”.

  4. Click the status icon to open the “Activity Details” pane, then go to “Status.”

  5. You can review the update request details, take necessary actions, or consult Carbon Managers or Project Managers for further clarification if required.

⚠️Important: Emission factor (EF) related information does not appear to Data Custodians’ view in order to restrict from viewing emissions and activities of other BUs.

💡Pro Tip: To enhance readability and streamline review; rearrange columns may be useful, click and hold the column name, then drag it to your preferred position.

💡Pro Tip: When reviewing multiple activity lines, you can filter activities by Category, Status, Business Unit, Due Date, or Assignee. You may also sort or group activities using these criteria. These features help reviewers efficiently organise and compare activity lines, streamlining the review process by highlighting similarities and differences.

Duplicate Activities

  1. When activity lines on a submitted data contain identical values in all mandatory fields (Start Date, End Date, Business Unit, Activity Name, Quantity, and Unit), they are automatically tagged as “Duplicate” upon ingestion.

  2. Activity lines tagged as “Duplicate” cannot have their status changed to “Verified.” (Refer to the example below.)

  • When you select activities tagged as “Duplicate” and attempt to change their status, a tooltip warning will appear. If you proceed, an error notification will also be displayed.

  1. The Carbon Manager (Project Manager or Environmental Expert) must review these duplicate entries and decide whether to delete them or retain the activities.

  2. If the activities are confirmed as valid, remove the “Duplicate” tag before changing their status.
