Measurement boundary
Measurement boundary
Updated over a week ago

The measurement boundary refers to the extent of coverage when measuring the carbon footprint of a product. There are two common types of measurement boundaries:

  1. Cradle-to-Grave: This covers the full product life cycle from resource extraction ('cradle') to the use phase and disposal phase ('grave').

  2. Cradle-to-Gate: This covers the partial product life cycle from resource extraction (cradle) to the downstream transportation and storage (i.e., before it is purchased by the consumer).
